Alcohol theft, marijuana possession, graffiti in Maplewood, police say

The following information was reported by the Maplewood Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, May 7

  • Police located an empty gun safe that was left abandon in the 3600 block of Cambridge Avenue.  Numerous attempts have been made to locate an owner, however all attempts were unsuccessful.
  • Police began an investigation into a stolen Apple i-phone from the 2100 block of Maplewood Commons Drive. The phone is described as a 64g, gold, with a screen protector. The victim last saw the phone in on May 7 while in the produce isle of the business. This investigation is ongoing.

Monday, May 9

  • Police began an investigation into property damage in the form of graffiti in the 2300 block of S. Big Bend Boulevard. The victim said a large, blue word “BOOG” had been drawn on the side of the building. This investigation is still on going.

Tuesday, May 10

  • Police arrested an adult male suspect for stealing approximately $200 worth of alcohol from a Maplewood Commons business. At the time the arrest was made police located a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana in the suspect’s pocket. The suspect was charged with possession of marijuana under 35 grams and stealing under $500.

Wednesday, May 11

  • While actively patrolling the 2200 block of Yale Avenue police located an unoccupied vehicle that was reported stolen by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. The vehicle was later towed by the SLMPD and will be investigated by their agency.

Saturday, May 14

  • Police arrested an adult male suspect for stealing approximately $60 worth of alcohol from a Maplewood Commons business.
