APA welcomes Jennifer Blome as Director of Humane Education

After more than 30 years at the desk of KSDK News Channel 5, journalist Jennifer Blome is retiring from the news business and joining her fellow animal lovers as the Director of Humane Education at the APA.

Jennifer BlomeThe APA is thrilled to have well-known broadcast journalist and animal advocate, Jennifer Blome, joining our organization. Jennifer’s love of animals is no secret to the many viewers of Today in St. Louis, where she hosted Sammy’s Stars, a daily segment featuring adoptable homeless animals in our area. Many of the APA’s own pets found their families through Sammy’s Stars.

Jennifer is also no stranger to the APA. For many years, she partnered with us for our annual Canine Carnival, where she’s acted as event emcee as well as the Grand Marshal for our Pooch Parade. Her lifelong passion for helping homeless pets and her talent for speaking to our community make her the perfect director for our humane education program.

We warmly welcome this talented and compassionate member of our community to our team as our representative of humane education in the St. Louis area. And we can’t wait to meet her three pets- two adopted stray pups named Joey and Jake, as well as an Irish wolfhound named Maximum Cuteness!

  1. Hi Jennifer Blome. Just wanted to say hey. Guess you still remember me ? Hope you are doing great. I’m still hanging in there also. My buddy Colonel dog says hi too. Proud of what you all do there at the APA by the way. Be good….. ~ Smoke

  2. Good morning Jennifer. I saw part of your interview on ksdk Saturday morning with Kelly Jackson and your involvement with the APA. I’m a volunteer with Stray Rescue, but love what the APA does also. I have a golden retriever, named Ranger, who could possibly be a candidate for retirement home visits. I would be interested in learning more about the program. I’ve spoken to to you at the boathouse a few years ago. I share your enthusiasm for pets and people alike. Your spirit shines as bright as the Sun. Sincerely, Dennis Shearn
