MRH homecoming: HOF inductees, games vs Brentwood, Blue Devil R&B

The Maplewood Richmond Heights Blue Devils R&B band played a set for the crowd in the Commons Courtyard between the volleyball and soccer games. Both games were against Brentwood.

MRH won the volleyball game against Brentwood in two sets — 25-20, 25-22. See photos from the volleyball game. The Blue Devils also won the soccer game against Brentwood, 4-1. See photos from the soccer game.

Four of the six MRH Hall of Fame inductees came to the homecoming game Friday. Left to right (center) Inductees: Skip Watkins, Martin Corcoran, Clark Hickman and Pickett Lema. MRH Superintendent Karen Hall far left, MRH School Board President Nelson Mitten far right. Inductees King “Iceman” Bailey Parson Jr. and Robert Frick were absent.

  1. It would be nice to see more seating available (bleachers). Districts shrink and grow, but at the moment we are definitely growing, with a new elementary school soon to be build. Originally Maplewood High School had seating to support ALOT more student, parents, etc (both outside by the field (and even in the auditorium).

  2. I took in every minute of the MRH Homecoming from volleyball to the concert to the induction and the soccer game. It was a fantastic evening; there were so many people in the community celebrating the talents and comraderie of the students. Kudos to the planners.

  3. Congratulations to all inductees. But a special shoutout to Skip Watkins for wearing his letterman jacket. The fact that he can still get into it is worth an award on its own. Way to go Skip!!! Proud to be in the class of ’65 with you!!
