The houses at 8758 and 8754 Rosalie, owned by the city of Brentwood, are being demolished.
The city is clearing the two on Rosalie and also at 8751 Eulalie. The three houses border City Hall and are being removed so it’s not “landlocked,” Brentwood Assistant City Administrator Lisa Koerkenmeier said in September.
Koerkenmeier also said, in September, that there are no immediate plans for the properties.
I definitely agree with Jerry regarding a Sub Station at City Hall on Brentwood Blvd. We are the only municipality that does not have a Police Station on our main street!! It would also slow traffic in that area by having a Brentwood Police Station sign displayed.
From what I’ve been told, we don’t even have an officer in our regular police station 24/7.
I would like to see our city of Brentwood put a police SUB-STATION by the City Hall in the center of the city, for quicker response and more patrols on the west side of Brentwood Blvd., to stop the increasing crime there.
The houses were falling apart. I think it was a smart move to get them before someone got hurt. I understand they were purchased at the price of their evaluation. Good deal.
It seems like in our municipalities we’re in a hurry to reduce our housing stock. If the city owns them, why not rent them out or utilize them in some way to bring in income? Instead they are torn down. Some of those older homes were much more solidly built than new houses today.
The city is not a condo association. The cost to make homes livable vs revenue is upside down.
Not to mention liability cost. All that would come from residents’ tax $.
Personally I think a City Hall,/Library /Post Office/Sub Station rebuild could provide the best utilization of the property.
Where has the Brentwood Historical Society moved to?
Doesn’t look like it. It’s hard to tell for sure, but it looks like you can see the interior door trim visible in the above pics.
Any idea if anyone was allowed to see about salvage of any of the materials from the homes. Homes of this age abound in our area and some folks are looking for a piece of trim or a door to replace one that the dog has chewed up. I hate to see entire houses just tossed into the landfills.
