Brentwood couple marks 50 years

Brentwood residents Carl and Sallie Westenbarger were recognized for their 50 years of marriage with a city proclamation at Tuesday’s board of aldermen meeting.

Mayor Chris Thornton read the proclamation.

Carl and Sallie met while stationed at Parris Island, South Carolina. Sallie was serving as a Marine and Carl as a Navy Corpsman. They were married in St. Louis on Dec. 22, 1966, according to the proclamation.

They have lived in Brentwood for 47 years. Sallie serves as the assistant adjutant and chaplain at the American Legion Post 101, and both are members of the Brentwood Optimist Club and Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
