Brentwood Police officer Lt. Walter Koehler was recognized for 30 years of service with the Brentwood Police Department at the board of aldermen meeting on Tuesday. Koehler is also set to retire soon.

Chief of Police Dan Fitzgerald said 30 years ago police used six-shooters and didn’t have tasers. He also said there was no Promenade, and Brentwood Square looked different — you could drive up on the roof. He said Brentwood Forest was just being remodeled.

“Walter has grown with the times, has adjusted, like all of us have, but Walter has not changed,” Fitzgerald said. “Walter has always been a very hard worker – always given his best for the city.”

  1. We hate to see the old breed go, but congratulations and thank you so very much for thirty years of your dedication to the Brentwood community. We are sure when you retire so much law enforcement knowledge will go with you, knowledge that can not be replaced.

    Good luck!
