The city of Brentwood has replaced an oak tree in a resident’s front yard on Urban Drive that it cut down in Dec. 2016 while he was at work.

The city had said it notified the resident, Doug Gruder, by mail that the tree would be removed. Gruder said he never got the notification.

A Brentwood neighbor said the new tree is the same species as the one removed, a swamp oak.
