St. Louis Post-Dispatch movie critic, and Brentwood resident, Joe Williams was killed Sunday night in a one-car crash in Jefferson County on Highway 67, the Post-Dispatch reports.

Williams over-corrected after veering to the left and drove his 2000 Lexus into a ditch about 6:35 p.m. It came to a rest on its roof. He was wearing a seat belt, officials say. Williams’ mother, Marie Williams, told the Post-Dispatch she believed her son was on his way to the Starlite Drive-In Theater in Cadet, MO.

Post-Dispatch reporter, and also a Brentwood resident, Paul Hampel, told the paper he he never met anyone who loved working for the Post-Dispatch more than Williams. “He never even took half his vacation each year. He loved the movies, he loved the paper and he loved his friends.”
