The Brentwood Board of Education has appointed Dr. Brian Lane to serve as its next school superintendent beginning July 1, 2017. Lane is currently serving as deputy superintendent for the Mehlville School District. He will be replacing David Faulkner, who will be retiring on June 30 after 30 years in public education.

Board president Keith Rabenberg said the board was pleased to have received a large number of applications from highly qualified candidates.  “A great deal of work went into reviewing the applications and interviewing a number of candidates.  We were very impressed by Dr. Lane’s wealth of experience and by his knowledge and insight,” said Mr. Rabenberg.

Lane began his career as an English teacher in St. Louis public schools and Webster Groves. He served as an administrator in University City before joining the Mehlville School District. He served Mehlville as assistant superintendent of student services, assistant superintendent of schools, and deputy superintendent.

Lane has been married to his wife, Amber, for 26 years and they have a daughter, Audrey, and a son, Braeden.

The Board of Education will host an event in the near future to introduce Dr. Lane to the staff and to community members.

  1. Was Dr. Ed Johnson a candidate? If not a lot of people will be disappointed. Promoting from within is a good way to keep well deserving personnel and in most cases increases morale.
