Decades of flooding paired with an opportunity for revitalization are bringing the Brentwood community together to plan for the future and a renewed Manchester Road corridor, through the Brentwood Bound plan.

In 2017, the Brentwood Board of Aldermen approved the Brentwood Bound plan. This plan is a comprehensive solution to overcome flooding and public safety challenges presented by the Deer Creek channel and to enhance the Manchester Road corridor within the city of Brentwood. The three parts of the plan include flood mitigation in the area of Deer Creek, improvements to Manchester Road, and a Deer Creek Greenway connector.

In August, a resident-led Brentwood Bound Task Force was developed to inform the community about the plan and gather community feedback about the plan’s implementation.

The task force is hosting two open houses, Nov. 1, 5:30-7:30 p.m. and Nov. 3, 9 a.m.-noon, at the Brentwood School District Conference Center (1201 Hanley Industrial Court, Brentwood, MO 63144) to give the community an opportunity to learn about the Brentwood Bound plan, ask questions and provide input about the plan and future development in the area.

“This project has the potential to bring new life to this part of our city. Enhanced safety, improved walkability, a connection of parks and trails and an opportunity for redevelopment are only a few of the benefits of this plan. We are excited to gather the community’s input,” says Brentwood Bound Task Force Community Co-Chair Mary White.

For those who cannot attend an open house, information and an online feedback form are available at BrentwoodBound.org.

  1. I hope that the issue of sewage in the water will be addressed. Too many times the sewers over flow into the creeks in our area. Causing the water to be unsafe due to e coli, etc.

    • The sewage overflow problem won’t be addressed specifically in the Brentwood Bound project, however, MSD has been addressing sewage overflows for the last couple of years as part of their long-term Project Clear initiative. You can read more about it here: https://www.projectclearstl.org/.

  2. Kudos to everyone on the citizens task force for working the past 8 weeks to spread the word and get everyone up to speed on the Manchester Road flood control plans. Five years from now we will look back and be proud that we showed the courage to keep moving our city forward.

  3. Great meeting and enthusiastic crowd last night. If you missed it, plan to come Saturday! This once in a generation chance to restore the natural floodplain North of Manchester between Brentwood Blvd And Hanley Rd. and stop the flooding will benefit all of us. Come out and get informed and involved! Stew Clark Co-Chair Brentwood Bound Citizens Task Force
