One of the candidates for the vacant Maplewood Ward 3 seat, Kristen Spenser, shares some Maplewood online resources. She also mentions the candidates forum on July 24 and a get-together she’s having at Foundation Grounds.

Part of my platform is increasing citizen access to government officials as well as transparency and communication. As a candidate for the Maplewood city council, I would love to meet with you personally on Tuesday, July 25, at 5 p.m. at Foundation Grounds.

You also have the opportunity to listen to all three candidates on July 24 at Schlafly Bottleworks at 7:30 p.m. via a forum put on by the Hadley Township Democratic Club. You do not have to be a member of the club or a resident of Ward 3 to attend.

As a social worker, one of my goals for my clients is to empower them, so I educate them about available resources. I have been walking around Maplewood listening as residents tell me what they love most about Maplewood and what they would like to see improved. Now that I have listened to them, I want to act on their thoughts by providing resources to some of their most common concerns and praises.

“My street needs to be repaved”
I have already noticed in the past several years that Maplewood has been actively repaving the streets. Here is a link to each street rating in Maplewood, which will help to give residents a sense of the city’s priority of street repair for their particular.

“I’m happy/upset about some of the Maplewood staff.”
You can directly share your praises or concerns about Maplewood staff. A Maplewood policeman went above and beyond for me and my family one year, so I completed this form to thank him. Not only did I get a thank you letter from the policeman, but the city manager also reached out to me as well!

“What can the police do for me?”
Want to meet someone to exchange an item you purchased from Craigslist? The Maplewood police have a safe place for you to do that!

If you will be out of town for an extended period of time, you can notify the police!

Want to know what it is like to be a police officer? Ride along with them!

I will continue to walk around our beautiful city and am looking forward to meeting with you. For more information, please visit my Facebook page.

Sincerely,
Kristen Spencer
Ward 3 City Council Candidate
