Maplewood resident and father, Jonathan Taylor, addressed the Maplewood City Council  Tuesday evening after his children’s bus stop became the location of two shootings this week.

“You need to know that we are very concerned about this issue,” he said, and urged the police department to be more proactive about patrolling the neighborhood. “I don’t want our neighborhood to begin to be perceived as an easy mark.”

City Manager Marty Corcoran responded, saying he wasn’t able to share much due to the ongoing investigation, but he assured Taylor and the other concerned parents that “this was not a random shooting.”

Corcoran also said he was hopeful they would be able to give the public more information about the shooting in the coming days, but was unclear as to when that information would be available.
