Maplewood Richmond Heights girls soccer and Brentwood baseball advanced to the finals. A Blue Devil golfer went to State.

Maplewood Richmond Heights girls soccer beat Brentwood 8-0 on Tuesday in the Class 1 District 2 district semis. They’re set to play Metro for the championship Wednesday at 5 p.m. at MRH.

Brentwood Eagles baseball outlasted the Blue Devils 4-2 in the Class 3 District 5 tournament, also on Tuesday. Brentwood will play Whitfield for the district championship at Whitfield, Wednesday at 4:15.

MRH baseball coach Jonathan Webb reported on Facebook: “I am proud of the perseverance our team showed in the last week of the season, and I particularly want to thank our three seniors — Garrett Andersen, Zach Barton and Christian Adams — for their leadership and dedication. We have a strong group returning next year, and I look forward to what they will accomplish together.”

Also from Webb: “Congratulations to senior Zach Barton, who finished his MRH baseball career with 106 stolen bases, the third-most by any player in Missouri history!”

In golf, the Blue Devil team of one — freshman Kal Kolar, first ever Blue Devil golfer — finished fourth in the Class 2 State Tournament. In round one he hit a 60-footer for a birdie and also sank a two 30-footers, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
