Javon Winston, 24, of St. Louis, was charged with second degree burglary in a Richmond Heights home break-in, which took place in August 2014, after police found DNA evidence leading to his arrest, according to court and police records.

Richmond Heights Police responded to a silent alarm at a home in the 7300 block of Glades Avenue. The victim reported that every room of his home had been rummaged through. There was evidence of forced entry. While the police were there, a man wearing a surgical mask ran from the house with police chasing him. During the chase the man dropped the surgical mask. He escaped, but the mask was seized for DNA evidence. The DNA on the mask was processed and there was a CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) hit matching the suspect’s DNA.
