After Lutheran North went ahead 19-7 in the third quarter the Eagles answered with a 37-yard touchdown run by Jake Zivic, then Austin Koster finished a drive from the 1-yard line on fourth down to put the Eagles within a touchdown from winning, at 20-26.

The Eagles held the Crusaders, then had the ball on their own 40 with 4:19 remaining. On fourth down with five yards to go to keep playing, Zivic missed the first down by inches before he was pushed out of bounds.

Zivic finished with 21 carries for 155 yards, Jacob Clay had 15 carries for 105 yards.

“Tough loss there,” Coach Keith Herring said. “They had a couple of big plays. I feel like we came in and did some things that we wanted to do, and ran the ball pretty well and played good defense, and we walked away going home.

“These kids, I think down to the last second they still believed they were going to win the game,” Herring said. “Didn’t work out that way. Pretty good team though, they’ve got some players.”
