John and Sylvia Wright’s book “Extraordinary Black Missourians” is the story of individuals who have set records, made discoveries, received international acclaim and awards, and led in the civil rights movement by breaking down racial barriers.
These accomplishments have played a major role in shaping the history and culture of the state and nation.
John A. Wright, Sr., is a native of St. Louis and a graduate of the St. Louis Public Schools. He has worked in the field of education in positions ranging from classroom teacher to superintendent of schools. He is the author of sixteen books on local history. Sylvia A. Wright has spent most of her life in St. Louis and is a graduate of the St. Louis Public Schools. Sylvia has worked with her husband on a number of his publications and they have published two books together.
