    HISTORIC MISSOURI ROADSIDES

    Tuesday, August 20—-6:30-7:30 p.m.

Who hasn’t heard the call of the open road and felt the desire to get out of the city and see the beauty of the Show-Me State? Historic Missouri Roadsides offers all the history, recommendations, and itineraries you need to make the most of a picturesque trip down a two-lane road or highway. Richly illustrated with photographs from the author’s own collection, you’ll find tours of varying lengths, most beginning near Kansas City or St. Louis. Bill Hart takes the wheel and shows you the very best of the roads from St. Charles County to old Route 66.  Come and hear his adventures along various routes as he shares about the character and hometown feel of cities along the way and tips on locally owned business, restaurants, and lodging. This is a great way for first-time travelers or for local, repeat “staycationer”. Bill Hart is a sixth generation Missouri native. Bill is particularly interested in vanishing Missouri building types, including roadside and countryside and how we can preserve them and is currently the Executive Director of the Missouri Alliance for Historic Preservation.  Books will be available for purchase at the event,  courtesy of the author.
