Our nation’s civil rights movements have an underlying pulse of music. In this presentation, we will learn about the songs and artists that sprang forth from the struggle and progress of African Americans and find out how music has been used to encourage and empower millions of people. Music and history will be connected in a relevant context to help us all better understand our country and its people.

Presented by members of Freedom Arts and Education Center of St. Louis, whose mission is to help young people become the highly creative, literate, passionate, independent thinkers they are capable of becoming. Mentors provide arts education, academic tutoring, mentoring, and leadership training to the underserved youth of St. Louis, inspiring them to utilize their talents.
