Maplewood firefighters reported on their Facebook page — Professional Firefighters of Maplewood — they were told that some Maplewood Richmond Heights high school students couldn’t afford lunch or had problems affording food on the weekends.

The firefighters’ outreach group was able to donate $2,000 to the district to cover those MRH students for the next school year.

  1. Once again, Maplewood community comes through for our kids…Where’s Richmond Heights???

    • As Richmond Heights Residents how can we get City Hall more involved with MRH School District. Maybe our new mayor has some ideas?

      • Wow did you know there are 4 different public school districts within the city of Richmond Heights.

        • The Maplewood FD also has property adjacent to the middle and high schools. The early childhood is across the street as well, and classes visit on occasion.

I would love for the RH institutions to be more involved, but they don’t have the same kind of relationship-building access with the student population as the Maplewood department does, simply due to geography.

That said, what an awesome thing the Maplewood FD is doing!

    • Just to give credit where credit is due, I do see a team of Richmond Heights employees registered for the Maplewood Shuffle, which benefits Joe’s Place. The Heights is also offering to donate free passes as door prizes for the second year in a row.

  2. Once again, I am so proud of my hometown. My family was always supportive and friends of the great Maplewood Fire Fighters and Police, who have always been such a great part of our city. I enjoy every visit I get to make to my hometown. Thank you!
