The owner of the vacant lot that was once The Sports Attic (8212 Manchester Road) has asked the city of Brentwood if he could turn it into a temporary parking lot for his private use, a city employee said Wednesday.

The Brentwood plan and zoning commission sub committee will consider the request at a meeting on Wednesday.

The owner, Brentchester LLC, bought the property from Sports Attic owner Joe Droege for $80,000 in 2014, with a possible plan to bring a Taco Bell. Brentchester has the property up for sale.

The Sports Attic was destroyed by a fire in April 2012.

The fire was originally investigated by St. Louis County bomb and arson unit; a follow-up investigation was handled by the Brentwood Police Department. A representative for the county police said that on their end, the fire was classified as “undetermined” (quote marks theirs).
