A week ago word was that Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken (7434 Manchester Road) would open the first week of December, now it’s pegged to the day.
Co-owner, Jim Zimmermann, said Tuesday, “Literally, every five minutes someone pulls in, ‘when are you opening?’ Some of these people are saying, ‘I know it’s next week, what day next week?'” He tells them it’s Tuesday (Dec. 8).
“We’re going to fire up the fryers tomorrow (this Wednesday) and start training tomorrow,” he said. Training runs through Saturday. Sunday, Dec. 6 will be two family and friends servings.
Doors will open for lunch Monday at 11 a.m., Dec. 7, with a scheduled closing from after lunch to before dinner to regroup. “By Tuesday, it’s goin’ at it,” Zimmermann said.
Gus’s Fried Chicken hours will be: Sunday – Thursday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
