Jim Zimmermann, co-owner of Gus’s Fried Chicken, said by email the restaurant will serve its first plates of fried chicken on Sunday, December 6 for an invitation-only friends and family event.

“Plenty of people stop every day expecting to have chicken,” he said. “We have been telling them the first week of December.”

40 South got the same answer on Monday from an approximately 10-year-old girl who said she was from from Memphis who handed out her mother’s business card for questions: Wendy McCrory, president, Gus’s Franchisor, LLC.

When open, Gus’s hours will be: Sunday – Thursday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
