This post is an opportunity for voters to write about why they’ll vote FOR a candidate or proposition, not why not to vote against someone or something. That’s it. Thanks, and see you on April 7.

  1. I WILL vote for Mark Wilson for Brentwood’s Mayor. I have known Mark for about 40 years, and I’m proud to see the man he is today….a man of integrity, a man of substance, an honorable man who respects others’ opinions, not quick to respond without knowing the facts, a man with an exceptional business background, who acts and speaks with diplomacy, with knowledge of the City and vision for the future, and a man with loyalty and sense of responsibility to the city and the residents. What more could anyone want in their elected officials?

    • After much consideration, I will vote for Mark Wilson for Mayor. I have met with all 3 candidates and believe that Mark’s business background, his community involvement, his knowledge of Brentwood and his attentiveness to the residents’ vision make him the best person for the job. I also believe he is not afraid to question the status quo when appropriate, which I think we so very badly need. I have also spoken to some Alderpersons who indicated they would welcome his leadership and vision.

I will also vote for Hart Nelson. I have met with both candidates and I believe Hart’s relationships with state and local agencies will benefit Brentwood, and I believe his military background will bring some much needed discipline to our process. I also think he has a fresh perspective and will bring a new energy to the position.

  2. Vote Andrew Harnett – Ward 3 if you are looking for fresh ideas and professional attitude from a lifelong Brentwood resident that cares about his community.

  3. If I could vote in 2 wards, I’d vote for Steve in Ward 3 because he’s a kind, gentle man who is determined to put the people first in Brentwood, and who has worked hard over the last two years in preparing for the position of alderman. In Ward 1 I’d vote for Hart Nelson because, in his original press statement, he advocated for an ordinance to protect the city’s trees–the “urban forest” of planner speak. When I encountered Hart at the League Forum he related that he and his wife had chosen Brentwood for their home because it reminded him of the town he grew up in.

(I am Steve Lochmoeller’s campaign treasurer.) Thank you, Doug, for offering the opportunity for civil discourse.

  4. Yes on Prop K! In order for us to accomodate the popularity and quality of our school district, we must continue to be able to absorb the many students and families who are choosing MRH! Yes, our Elementary School is overcrowded, but this proposition also benefits the K-1 section of the ECC in order for them to accomodate the number of sections currently served. The Elementary School will be able to use some of the space in the newly renovated ECC, relieving crowding in that school. (They currently have two “portable classrooms” and more on the way.) Don’t forget to vote!

  5. I am voting for Patrick Toohey, because he is the only mayorial candidate who has the correct position on the BHGH issue. This really was a litmus test for what Brentwood stands for: are we going to stand for snobbery and elitism, or are we going to make an effort to help those in need? It kind of mirrors the GOP “we’ve got ours, now screw you” mentality.

    • Great Steve! Here’s an idea, call BHGH and invite them to build their next complex next to your house, you could even volunteer there, just walk across your yard and bingo you’re there. Sounds like a great idea. Good Luck!

  6. …Yes on Prop K! Investing in early childhood should be a priority. A small increase in my property taxes is a worthwhile contribution to ensure that MPH remains strong. A school district pays dividends as it results in a more attractive Maplewood and Richmond Heights.

My wife and I are in our early 30s and we have a newborn. I’m proud to be a Maplewood resident (bought our home 2 years ago) and am glad we have this opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to our community and our children.

  7. This election will result in no “losers” and Brentwood will be the biggest winner, regardless of who is Mayor.

I am voting for Mark Wilson, who is also hosting a “CELEBRATE BRENTWOOD”, elected or not, at 6:30, Frank Poppa’s Restaurant 2241 S Brentwood Blvd, Brentwood, MO 63144.

Mark is a skilled unifier. Mark’s sensitivity to residential issues, in balance with the general needs of Brentwood, and his focus on listening to all positions makes him my choice. He has a gentle hand in difficult issues, so everyone feels heard.

    • the neighbor-oriented “CELEBRATE BRENTWOOD” is on the day of the election. sorry; I failed to include that.
