Chik-fil-A is set to build where Macaroni Grill is now.

The Romano’s Macaroni Grill in Brentwood closed Dec. 29, along with other area locations. The Brentwood closing was expected, since the city’s planning and zoning commission had already approved a Chick-fil-A taking over the location. Since then, the board of aldermen has approved the development.

Romano’s Macaroni Grill sent 40 South News a statement on Wednesday regarding gift cards.

It’s always a difficult decision for a restaurant to close its doors. We regret that our locations in the St. Louis and Columbia markets were closed and will honor every gift card we sold to the satisfaction of our customers including exchanging for gift cards to local Joe’s Crab Shack and Brick House Tavern + Tap restaurants. Anyone holding a Romano’s Macaroni Grill gift card is encouraged to get in touch with our guest relations department immediately for information on what to do.

A dedicated email box has been set up for Missouri guests at [email protected] or they can call (713) 366-7640.

We are working to reach out to each individual guest personally with the goal to resolve their situations within 3-5 business days, so we ask for everyone’s patience during this time. Again, we apologize for any confusion this situation may have caused and thank our Missouri guests for their patronage.

  1. My alder persons vote on whether the businesses go into Brentwood. Planning and Zoning does NOT. Planning and Zoning checks for legalities, whether the plans of the new entity COMPLIES with current standards and rules, and reports that information to the people who are listed in their charter.

    • Correct. A P&Z commission only recommends approval and passes the final approval to the board of aldermen. Although the aldermen in most cities usually follow P&Z’s recommendations, it isn’t always the case. It isn’t over until the BOA sings.
