Maplewood bike race draws largest group yet

The largest number of bikers in its three years came to the Maplewood Criterium bike race on Sunday, to race the course on the 7500 and 7600 blocks of Flora Avenue, down Big Bend and through the Sunnen Business Park.

Kids and juniors, up to women’s and men’s category 1,2,3 raced the course—182 individuals in all.  The races lasted from between 25 to 50 minutes.

For the professional categories, there was a total of $400 prize money for first, second and third places, plus another $850 for prime laps—prizes awarded for individual laps within a race.
