Maplewood blotter: man charges $268 on family member’s credit card, arrested

Monday, April 7

  • Police are investigating an attempted stolen vehicle report that occurred in the 7200 block of Southwest Avenue. Witnesses saw an unknown man break into a vehicle and try to start it. One of the witnesses then confronted the man. The subject left the victim’s vehicle and entered an awaiting vehicle. He was last seen traveling towards St. Louis City. The victim’s vehicle sustained damage to the driver’s side door handle and ignition.
  • Police are investigating a theft from a Maplewood Commons business. A woman is suspected of stealing approximately $745 in merchandise.  Police have identified the suspect and are attempting to locate her.
  • Police arrested a 27-year-old man for fraudulently making purchases of approximately $268 on a family member’s credit card. The unauthorized transactions occurred at businesses in the 3000 block of S. Big Bend and the 7300 block of Manchester.

Tuesday, April 8

  • Police arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of trespassing in the 7200 block of Anna Avenue.
  • Police arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of shoplifting approximately $138 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • Police arrested two twenty year old males on suspicion of stealing merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.

Wednesday, April 9

  • Police responded to the 7200 block of Lyndover Avenue for a reported disturbance. An investigation revealed a man and woman had been arguing. The man voluntarily left the residence to stay with a family member.  No arrests were made or charges filed.
  • Police are investigating an attempted burglary report in the 2800 block of S. Big Bend.  A door was pried open. It is unknown if the suspect(s) gained entry into the business.  No property was missing and nothing was disturbed inside the business.
  • Police responded to the 7400 block of Canterbury Avenue for a reported domestic disturbance. Police spoke with a man and woman inside the residence who said there was no disturbance. A computer check on the man revealed he was wanted by Maplewood PD for a domestic assault and property damage, which occurred at the same residence on March 28.
  • Police responded to the 7200 block of Anna Avenue for a reported disturbance. Police spoke with a male and female who said they had been arguing. The woman agreed to leave the residence and stay with a friend. No arrests were made or charges filed.

Thursday, April 10

  • Police arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • A 28-year-old woman was arrested for a drug violation resulting from a traffic stop conducted near Maplewood Commons Drive and West Bruno.
  • Police are investigating a property damage at Deer Creek Park. Glass block windows were shattered inside the park’s men’s restroom.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Maplewood Police Department at 314-645-3000.
