The Maplewood Fire Department faced off against the St. Louis FD in June in a barbecue cook-off, and lost in a close vote. KC Masterpiece donated $5,000 to a charity chosen by the winner.

Now, KC Masterpiece has decided to do the same for the Maplewood FD. Firefighter Matt Wilcox said they also received $5,000 — for participating.

The Maplewood firefighters split the reward evenly among five Maplewood charities:

  1. Maplewood Mystery Santa
  2. Ryan Hummert Memorial
  3. St Vincent DePaul Food Pantry
  4. MRH program, Joe’s Place
  5. MRH program, Weekend on Wheels
Kat Norton, administrative assistant to the superintendent, and Karen Hall, MRH superintendent of schools with the two $1,000 checks for MRH programs.
