This photo was grouped with the Parison Bakery photos. Perhaps it was taken in the rear of the building. since it was scanned from slides there is a chance that the image could be reversed.

If you should feel an urge for a pastry or possibly a cake and you wind up in a particular Frame of Mind, well… I’d have to guess you’re channeling something.  Because you will be in the right location but 90 years or so too late.

These photos were scanned from slides in the collection of the Maplewood Public Library. They were collected by the now defunct Renaissance Society for the 75th anniversary of our town in 1983.  There either was not much info with these images or equally likely I forgot to copy it along with them while researching our community history book, “the First one hundred years, Maplewood, MO.” (I curse the cover designer every time I have to type that title) in 2008.  I believe the Chamber (2915 Sutton, 314-781-8588) still has a few copies of the book for around 20 bucks each.

The Parison family's bakery had two locations. One here at 7308 Manchester in 1924. The other was at Maple and Big Bend. I don't know which was first.

This image was obviously shot at the same time as the previous one. I include it because I have plenty of space and I don't have that much on these guys.

The building now occupied by Frame of Mind picture framing company as it looked in 2007. the Frame of Mind folks do very high quality and reasonably priced work. Their handiwork surrounds some of my own favorite images.

maybe this is the way it should be? With no sign or address visible it can be difficult to determine.

This photo was grouped with the others as well. My note says Schwartztrauber early 1930's. I wonder if it was taken in the alley in back of the bakery building?
