Maplewood names new Director of Community Development

 The city of Maplewood has named its new Director of Community Development, according to the Mid County Chamber of Commerce.

Maplewood resident Laura Miller is replacing Rachelle L’Ecuyer, who left the position after 13 years to be executive director of the Delmar Loop.

According to the chamber of commerce:

Laura Miller is is a life-long Maplewood resident and active community volunteer. She currently serves as Vice President of Immaculate Conception Parish Pastoral Council. In recent years, Miller introduced the concept of a public piano to the Maplewood community and began a monthly meal program for Maplewood’s first responders. In 2017, the Mid County Chamber of Commerce recognized Miller as Citizen of the Year.

Miller brings with her 23 years of non-profit administration, event management, marketing, communications and public relations experience. Most recently she served as executive director of Cultural Festivals, producers of the Saint Louis Art Fair. She played a pivotal role in cultivating the growth of the Saint Louis Art Fair and helping to maintain its reputation as a leader in the art fair industry. During her tenure, Cultural Festivals has been recognized by the International Festivals and Events Association, receiving over 90 industry awards.

“Maplewood is very fortunate to attract an individual with Miller’s experience and qualifications. The Maplewood business community will be in good hands,” said  Maplewood City Manager Marty Corcoran.

Over the last decade, Maplewood has seen an influx of restaurants, shops and businesses. Miller will be tasked with continuing to elevate Maplewood as a destination for people to live, work and play. She will begin her new position effective Monday, September 17.
