Maplewood Police Department ticketed 14 motorists for not wearing seat belts during the Nov. 25 Click It or Ticket mobilization, according to a release from the department.
Law enforcement agencies throughout Missouri participated in this statewide effort to get more motorists to buckle up — and save more lives.
During the enforcement effort, officers issued a total of 49 traffic citations including: 14 seat belt tickets; 7 speeding tickets; and 28 other traffic violations.
According to the release: Despite evidence proving the benefits of wearing a seat belt, nearly one in five Missouri motorists are still not making it click. Even more concerning, six out of ten Missourians killed in traffic crashes are unbuckled.
“Seat belts are your single best defense in a crash,” stated Maplewood Police Chief Steven Kruse. “We will continue to encourage drivers to make a simple, smart choice to buckle up and Arrive Alive.”

Brentwood Police did not take part in Click It Or Ticket, according to Chief Fitzgerald.
What about those drivers talking and texting on there smartphone weaving between lanes? More dangerous than not wearing a seatbelt! And what about the car window smashing happening during the night?
I would hope that Maplewood and Richmond Heights officers also ticket for running stop signs! December 23 of last year someone totaled my Kia Soul running the stop sign at Lohmeyer and Bredell. I thought maybe she was late returning a book to our Library! Since then I have become more and more aware that very, very few drivers in Maplewood and Richmond Heights stop at stop signs–occasionally they make “rolling stops”. I drive over Claytonia to Ethel going to the Bread Company practically every morning. Driving up Claytonia one morning before I reached Dale, I saw three cars run the stop signs at Claytonia and Dale! One of those was a Richmond Heights police car! Needless to say, I sometimes feel like an accident looking for a place to happen.

Barb, what you fail to realize is that those people are obviously more important than you and have important places to be so there is no need to stop at those little red octagon signs
Don’t forget about the “optional” no left turn signs on Lyndover and Lohmeyer westbound turning south on Big Bend. Even some maps at Google instruct to turn left at those corners. Here I am stupid enough to think those “no left turn” signs are there for safety.
How many tickets were issued in Brentwood
Sweet. Can we now focus some effort on catching those responsible for committing actual crimes, like the near-constant car window vandalism.

Are these “points” violations are simply a fine?
No points police say — that’s regarding the tickets for not wearing a seat belt.
Wouldn’t the 7 speeding tickets be point since it is a moving violations, unless they were going less them 5 MPH over?
