The Maplewood and Richmond Heights police departments are among nine  in St. Louis County with outside accreditation. That’s according to a report on St. Louis County police departments by Better Together STL released this month.

Chesterfield, Clayton, Creve Coeur, Florissant, Maplewood, Richmond Heights, Shrewsbury, St. Louis County and Webster Groves have received accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The St. Louis City and UMSL departments are also accredited.

CALEA is an accreditation board that evaluates police departments based on a set of standards that measure administrative, operational and logistical aspects of police departments.

The Maplewood police department won the accreditation in September 2014 after three years of work, led by Maplewood Sergeant Michael Martin.
