MRH baseball swamps Hazelwood East

With a 14-run fourth inning, Maplewood Richmond Heights baseball overwhelmed Hazelwood East Saturday morning 18-0. Junior Garret Andersen had the complete game shut out.

Senior Michael Langston announced on Facebook that he hit the only home run of his career in the game: “Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, I must announce that I, Michael Langston, have finally done the impossible: hit a home run in my high school career. A 3-run shot to center field at Deer Creek, a true Deer Creek home run. That is all. I bid thee adieu.”

Langston’s cousin, Jenny Meckles, posted a photo of him at the plate right before the homer.

MRH (4-4) plays Brentwood (4-0) at Brentwood Park on Monday at 4:15 p.m.
