MRH cross country runner is Post-Dispatch Athlete of the Week

Maplewood Richmond Heights junior Malik Stewart was named St. Louis Post-Dispatch Athlete of the Week on Wednesday after winning the Orchard Farm Invitational on Oct. 4. in St. Charles.

Stewart set a new school record with the run, covering the 5-kilometer course in 15 minutes, 47.95 seconds, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

He traded the lead several times with an Orchard Farm runner until the 1.5-mile mark, when Stewart pulled in front to stay, winning by seven seconds.
