Maplewood Richmond Heights Superintendent Karen Hall told MRH families on Thursday that Elementary School Assistant Principal Jonathan Strong will be leaving MRH as of June 30, to join St. Louis Public Schools as the new principal at Meramec Elementary. The school is at 2745 Meramec Street in south St. Louis.

From Hall’s announcement:

In making his announcement, Strong said: “I am sad to be leaving, but I am also elated for the opportunity to share the knowledge that MRH has given me with the St. Louis area. It is with love, respect, and honor that I begin this new chapter in my career, and I thank the community for its support while I’ve been at MRH.”

We are all sad to see Mr. Strong leave our MRH family, but very excited for him to begin this new leadership position in St. Louis Public Schools. He has been an amazing team member at MRH and a dedicated role model and advocate for our students and families. Meramec Elementary and its students are very lucky to have him join their school community.

“We will truly miss Mr. Strong as a member of our learning community, but are very excited for him to take this next step in his career and broaden his impact,” added Elementary Principal Dr. Adams. “We are thankful for his leadership at MRHE and wish him well in this new endeavor.”

Mr. Strong joined MRH Elementary in July 2012. Prior to that, he was a literacy coach at Confluence Academy, and also served as a Title 1 reading instructor and fourth grade teacher at Confluence. Additionally, he was a third grade teacher at Thurgood Marshall Academy.

The District will now begin the process of seeking a replacement for the assistant principal position. A search committee will be formed with the goal of having the position filled in July 2017.
