Lessons for piano and guitar are coming to a space on Sutton Boulevard north of Hazel Avenue. Shock City School of Music is coming to 2743 Sutton. The location was formerly part of a pinball arcade.
Nextdoor, on the corner of Sutton and Hazel, Oliver, a coffee shop and ‘flower bar’ plans to open. (Previously reported in March 2019.)
I know we’re had skepticism here before about how many chicken or ice cream places Maplewood can absorb.
I think what’s demonstrably true is that there are already an awful coffee places. We don’t really need to have competing sources across the street from each other or three or four doors apart.
A coffee shop failed in this exact location once already. The music lessons and flowers are nice and novel, but the coffee may be a losing proposition.
