Katie Kelly finished installing a bamboo floor and painting her new yoga studio, Shanti Yoga (7346 Manchester Road), right above Boogaloo, just in time for her open house and Maplewood Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting on Wednesday. She opens for business Saturday.
Kelly ran a yoga studio in Kirkwood for about a year, and decided to go out on her own. She said she’s wanted a studio in Maplewood for a while.
“I found this on Craig’s List,” she said. “There were no floors, there was nothing.” She said it was perfect.
She funded the work with a crowd sourcing campaign and said an army of volunteers helped with the work.
Kelly, 27, said she did her yoga teacher training in India, and has lived in Durango, and Telluride, Colorado; and a tree house in Hawaii.

“I’m trying to bring all that energy from my travels and experiences and making it happen,” she said.
She has a group of teachers, including three who speak Spanish. She’s also renting out part of the space to a masseuse.
