The recent rainy weather has delayed work on the Ryan Hummert Memorial, in Ryan Hummert Memorial Park, Doug Delong of Delong Landscape Architecture said Wednesday.

Delong said the memorial should be completed sometime late summer, or fall. He said he knows the sculpture has been completed and is being held until the site is further along.

The cost is not to exceed $334,471, as previously reported in 40 South News.

Money raised to date and in the future pay for the memorial. An annual Cardinals baseball night contributes to the memorial. City funds are also being used, according to City Manager Marty Corcoran.

On July 22 from 6 – 8 p.m. The Jeremiah Johnson Band, blues and rock from an award-winning guitarist, will perform in the park as part of the Maplewood Community Betterment Foundation Summer Concert Series.
