According to Clayton Police, Marci A. Beasley, 31, of the 1400 block of Hawthorne Place, stole at least $11,916 from the Potbelly Sandwich Shop in Clayton, using the money to gamble and make unspecified purchases.

Police say Beasley worked as the general manager of the restaurant. The business’ accountant determined that Beasley had been stealing money from the store’s deposits over a period of several months.

On March 6, after the defendant closed the restaurant for the evening, the co-owner entered the restaurant and found that one of the day’s deposits was missing.

Clayton police, who had been following Beasley as she left, were notified that the deposit was missing. Police found the missing deposit on Beasley; she confessed to police that she had been stealing deposits from the restaurant for several months.
