Some MRH ECC classes won’t resume until Jan. 17: water damage repair

Some Maplewood Richmond Heights preschool classes aren’t planned to resume until Jan. 17, according to a letter sent to parents from ECC Principal Cyndi Hebenstreit and shared with 40 South by a parent.

The late starting date is for contractors to make repairs and ensure no moisture, mold, or other allergens exist from water damage from a burst water pipe due to extreme cold. Classes were first canceled Dec. 19.

Some preschool classes, not affected by water damage, will resume on January 3.

Hebenstreit said they know the challenges the later date poses for families, and will try to accomplish the work quickly as possible. Children not attending classes during this period will have their tuition fees amended.

She said families should find alternative care during the period. Families with a hardship, unable to make alternative arrangements, will be placed in alternative areas in the ECC, but those areas are limited.
