Brentwood grad breaks University of Wisconsin record on 1st throw

Brentwood High School graduate Sophia Rivera, in her first year of competition with the Wisconsin Badgers, in her first attempt in her first outdoor meet, in San Diego, broke the school record for women’s javelin throw.

As a Brentwood High School junior Rivera won the national championship in 2015 for girls shot put in the New Balance Nationals Indoor Track and Field Championships in New York City with a winning throw of 49 feet 1 inch. She also qualified for the 2016 Olympic Trials as a high school senior in 2016.
