Brentwood Fire Department begins activity reports

Brentwood Fire Chief Ted Jury said at the June Public Safety Committee meeting that the department would begin publishing weekly/monthly activity reports. The first one is out, and it can be found on the city website under the fire department tab. According to the report, the department had 57 fire calls in 2014, and 30 for 2015, through May. The department also responded to calls related to explosions, rescues, hazardous conditions, false alarms, severe weather and others. The total calls for 2014 was 1835.

Brentwood police, fire support Backstoppers with BBQ

Brentwood police and fire departments on Saturday sponsored the fourth annual barbecue to benefit The Backstoppers, a St. Louis-based organization. Brentwood Police Officer Craig Eisenbeis and Brentwood Firefighter Capt. Rick Kerr organized the event, according to Chief of Police Dan Fitzgerald. Within hours of the death of a police officer, firefighter, publicly-funded paramedic or EMT his or her family receives a check for $5,000 from The BackStoppers, with assurance of further help, according to The Backstoppers website. http://youtu.be/cB9eQc8fMgQ
