MRH football to forfeit game due to injuries

The Maplewood Richmond Heights athletic department has canceled this week’s football game against St. Francis Borgia due to injuries, the school district reported on its website Tuesday. MRH has six players unable to play, along with others with minor injuries from last week’s game against Clayton, the school reports. MRH lost to Clayton 28-0. There is no JV or freshman team, and has lost players to transfers.

Good turnout at Jr. Eagles football camp

About 24 players, mostly from sixth to eighth grade, are learning football skills at the Jr. Eagles football camp at Norm West Park this week. They’re preparing for games with similar teams from area schools. The camp has been preparing players for high school football since the early 1970s. In the past the Jr. Eagles have had a game schedule against Chaminade, MICDS, SLUH, Westminster, Priory, Affton and Vianney.

Football mini camp for elementary and middle schoolers

Get warmed up for football season with the Jr. Eagles mini camp at Norm West Park, 8700 E. Pendleton Avenue, Brentwood, MO 63144, this week. Learn football skills through non-contact drills. The camp is Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  The cost is $25 and includes a camp T-shirt. Arrive by 5:45 on the first night for sign-in. A parent or guardian must be present to sign a waiver.

Blue Devil wins scholarship to Culver-Stockton College

Maplewood Richmond Heights senior, Seddrick McShan has been accepted to Culver-Stockton College for enrollment in the fall 2014 semester, according to a press release from the school. McShan has also been awarded the Wildcat Scholarship, a four-year award. McShan’s anticipated major is athletic training. By attending Culver-Stockton, McShan will benefit from the C-SC Advantage, which includes research, professional experiences, leadership opportunities, service learning, simulations, creative expression and travel studies.

Eagles season ends with tough loss to Lutheran North

Brentwood football’s season ended Wednesday night at home against Lutheran North in the second round of Class 2, District 2 playoffs. The Eagles scored first early on a Kyle Pudlowski run, but fell behind in the second quarter, for the first time all season. The Crusaders went on to win 26-20. Brentwood, MRH football to face off in 1st post season game

Brentwood and Maplewood Richmond Heights football teams will play each other at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Brentwood to start the post-season. Brentwood beat MRH in the second game of the season 42-22. They met last year in the district final, and MRH won that one 54-14. Brentwood (9-0) is the 2-seed in the Class 2, District 2 championship tournament. MRH (1-8) is the 7-seed.

MRH football drops another, Brentwood to play Principia on Saturday

Maplewood Richmond Heights failed to better its record Friday, as the Blue Devils lost  to Cardinal Ritter 34-6. Junior, Darren Williams broke away for the only MRH score of the night in the first half. MRH’s record drops to 1-7 with one game remaining in regular season, against John Burroughs next Saturday at 1 p.m.
