Saint Mary Magdalen students experience STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math

On Tuesday, Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic School participated in an exciting educational program sponsored by the Sheldon Arts Foundation, underwritten by the Boeing Company, with input from the St. Louis Science Center. This program was organized by music teacher, Denise Dolan, after obtaining a grant through the Sheldon Concert Hall. Saint Mary Magdalen School honors first responders

Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic School students from preschool to 8th grade gathered at Mass Friday to honor first responders in the area and to thank them for dedicating their lives to ensure the safety of the community, according to a press release. “These everyday heroes are models of how selfless actions can improve our world,” the release stated. Father Jack Siefert, pastor of Saint Mary Magdalen, gave a blessing to the public servants. Father Siefert expressed his gratitude for all of the members of public safety who make such a difference in each of our lives. Following Mass students and first responders enjoyed breakfast, songs by the children, and a basketball game.

Saint Mary Magdalen students hit home runs, advance to finals

Saint Mary Magdalen students participated in the Cardinal Glennon Home Run Derby at school in the first week of April. These winners will represent Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic School in the championship on May 16:

Grades K-2 – Jackson H. and Ellie H., 2nd
Grades 3-5: Aiden H., 3rd and Anna L., 5th
Grades 6-8: Megan J., 8th and Luke P., 6th

Mary Magdalen Catholic School students benefit from grant

Students in Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic School’s music classes last week received a gift from the American Recorder Society of eight new music stands, according to Mary Magdalen Catholic School. Teacher Denise Dolan was awarded the Educational Outreach Grant from the society, valued at over $270. “Grades four, five and six are playing the recorder, but all our music students will benefit from this generous gift,” Dolan said.  The American Recorder Society awards the grant to those who support recorder education.
