Folks waited in line for hours Saturday morning for a new beer from Maplewood’s newest brewery — Side Project. It was Pulling Nails 6, selling for about $35 for a 750ml bottle.

Brent Yard, of St. Louis, said he came simply because it’s a Side Project beer. “It will sell out. It will be gone by the end of the day if not by the end of the line,” he said.

It’s a blend of beers, one with blueberry, Josh Eberhardt, also of St. Louis, said. “It makes it really dark, almost black in color,” he said. “It gives it a little bit of a fruity flavor, sweetness, and also makes it extremely difficult to get because only the people here today will have a bottle.”

Yard said it’s a huge, close community. “A lot of us know Cory (King, Side Project owner and brewer) either personally or professionally,” he said. “We all want to support him. He makes amazing beer. There’s also a lot of industry people here. When beer is amazing we come out, we wait in lines.”
