Thefts at Maplewood Commons, Alicia Avenue: police

The following information was reported by the Maplewood Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Jan. 25

  • Police responded to a Maplewood Commons business for a stealing report.  Through investigation, police learned that a customer had purchased several items including a security camera system valued at approximately $470. Shortly after arriving home, the customer realized that he had left the camera system in the shopping cart. Upon viewing the parking lot surveillance footage police saw an unknown person remove the item from the cart after the victim was finished using it. This case is under investigation.

Wednesday, Jan. 27

  • Police responded to a Maplewood Commons business for a stealing report. Upon arrival police learned that the suspect had stolen approximately $700 worth of electronic merchandise. The suspect was later located and found to be in possession of all stolen property. The suspect was arrested for felony stealing.
  • Police began an investigation into a missing/stolen laptop computer. The computer is described as a black Chromebook valued at approximately $225.  This investigation is  ongoing.

Friday, Jan. 29

  • Police began a stealing investigation that occurred from a residence in the 7600 block of Alicia Avenue. Several rare, uncirculated coins were taken. This investigation is ongoing.

Saturday, Jan. 30

  • Police arrested an adult male suspect following the theft of approximately  $200 worth of liquor and clothing items from a Maplewood Commons business.
