Thefts in Maplewood, hit and run in Brentwood: police

Thefts from big box stores in Maplewood, and a hit and run in Brentwood were released recently in police and court records.

James R. Brawley, 34, of St. Louis, stole a DeWalt combo tool set from the Maplewood Lowe’s store on Dec. 10, 2015. According to records, Brawley previously pleaded guilty to felony stealing in 2011 and 2008 in St. Charles County. Held was on a $15,000 bond.

Gioya R. Hughes, 27, of St. Louis, when an employee of the Maplewood Walmart, confessed to her employers that she had activated a $500 gift card (plus activation fee) on Jan. 29 without paying for it. The transaction was recorded on security video. Hughes was charged with stealing over $500 and held on a $5,000 bond.

While fleeing the scene of a theft at the Famous Footwear store in Brentwood, and driving a car reported stolen out of Chesterfield, Ronisha Pampkin, 21, of St. Louis, collided with a car on Eager Road. She did not stop but continued driving down Eager Road toward Hanley Road. She was eventually arrested by Richmond Heights police. Pampkin admitted she had knowingly failed to stop after hitting the victim’s car. She was charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. The damage to the victim’s car was estimated at $1,836.
