X’s on doors in Brentwood: not necessarily bad

The weekend’s rain, which caused Deer Creek to flood over Manchester Road in Brentwood, came right up to businesses doors, but not in, according to a barber at Kings & Queens Barber And Beauty in the 8500 block.

IMG_2396That business, and every other on the block, had or still has, an orange X spray-painted on the front door. It only means Laclede Gas has inspected the gas lines for leaks following the flood and everything is OK, the bartender at the Sideline said.

Some of the businesses are closed for unrelated reasons. Time for Dinner is closed for a scheduled break. Iron Nest, next to Kings & Queens, was closed Wednesday because they didn’t have heat, according to a sign on the door.

  1. I wonder if the gas company turned off service to the area. I was without heat as we’re neighbors after the flooding.
