According to police and court records, Teal Saunders, 30, of St. Louis, was charged with forgery, which occurred two years ago at First Bank inside Dierbergs in Brentwood.

Saunders was an employee of First Bank. She generated a temporary check on a customer’s account without that customer’s permission, made it payable to a third person in the amount of $1,295, then took the cash from the drawer. Surveillance video from the bank shows that at the time of the purported transaction, there was no customer at the defendant’s teller position.

Later that day she closed the bank branch — she was the last remaining employee working that day — and left her teller keys behind, never to return to the bank as an employee. She resigned via email several days later. She was arrested nearly two years after the event, and denied forging the check or taking any money from the bank.
