Maplewood firefighter deployed to Hurricane Florence area

Maplewood Fire Lieutenant Matt Wilcox was deployed with Missouri Task Force 1 to provide disaster aid in the areas impacted by Hurricane Florence, the department reported on Thursday.

Thirty-seven Missouri personnel, 10 ground support personnel and more than 100,000 pounds of equipment were deployed.

The task force was also authorized to bring additional swift water rescue equipment, including 14 swift water rescue technicians. The group will assemble in Raleigh, North Carolina and await orders for assignment locations based on the areas affected most by Hurricane Florence.
