St. Louis Regional Night Out block parties create an opportunity for neighbors to get to know each other more closely. One of the most effective crime deterrents is to have neighbors looking out for one another, according to the City of Maplewood.

Both Maplewood Police Chief Stephen Kruse and Fire Chief Terry Merrell made it to all the parties last year, and they’ll try to do that again this year. As in the past, the City of Maplewood will provide hotdogs, hamburgers, buns, condiments, chips, water, soda and Maplewood t-shirts.

This evening is designed to:

  1. Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
  2. Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts.
  3. Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
  4. Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

If you would like more information, contact Sgt. Michael Martin at 646-3617.

  1. Wonderful to be invited personally by my neighbors on Jerome! Guess I’ll have to bring my own veggie burger or tofu pup!
